Welcome back for another Sunday, folks. We cashed our three bets last week and have been on fire for about a month now. Let’s see if we can keep that momentum going today. Football is gaining momentum and the NFL preseason is already almost over, but we still have about six weeks of regular season baseball to complete. Let’s end things with a bang and see if we can target teams and pitchers heading in different directions today.
Here are my best bets for Sunday August 22. Do you have questions or want to talk about baseball or betting? Do not hesitate to contact us on Twitter @mikeMaher.

We cashed the Braves moneyline last Sunday, and we’re heading straight to the pit this Sunday. The pitcher’s match is Touki Toussaint vs. John Means, and these two couldn’t be heading in more different directions. Other than a hiccup against the Brewers, Toussaint has been dominant since returning to the Braves’ rotation. Means, on the other hand, started the season strong, but hasn’t been the same pitcher since returning from a long stint on the injured list. Major League Baseball has also started enforcing the use of sticky substances by pitchers during his absence, and Means appears to be one of the pitchers struggling to adjust to the change. Means posted a 5.09 ERA in July and a 7.43 ERA in 13 1/3 innings in August. Ride the All Saints’ Day wave and look for the burgeoning Braves to take care of business against Means and the Orioles today.
Houston Astros -1.5 points (+110)

The Mariners continue to hang around in the AHL playoff photo, but they’re terrible against lefties. As it turns out, the Astros start left-hander Framber Valdez today. Valdez has a 3.17 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in 91 innings this season, and the Mariners counter with Tyler Anderson, who has been surprisingly decent for Seattle since acquiring him at the trade deadline. from the MLB.
But the Astros have beaten the Mariners 27-4 in the first two games of this series, and I expect more of the same today as they look to close the sweep.
Looking at the MLB lines this morning, and the #Astros have surpassed the #Sailors 27-4 on the first two games of this series.
They send Framber Valdez over the bump to close the sweep.
If you give the strokes of 1.5, you can change this line to +110 in @DKSportsbook

I went back and forth as to whether or not to target the silver line or the race line in this one. I’m not as confident in the Cleveland offense as I am in the pitching game, so I decided to play more cautiously and stick to the silver line. But if you want to go from -130 to +140 giving the 1.5 points, I think it’s an aggressive game that you can justify based on the payout.
Cleveland is looking to complete a sweep from the Angels, and they send Cal Quantrill to the mound. After a difficult start to the season, Quantrill has been fantastic since early July. Quantrill posted a 2.86 ERA in July and a 1.88 ERA in August, and he hasn’t suffered a loss since May 31. The Angels counter with young southpaw Jose Suarez, who allowed at least three earned runs in four of his five starts in the second half. He’s also still lying down and the Angels are watching his sleeves, so he’s unlikely to sink deep into the game.
