The Ohio State University football team looks great. In fact, the Buckeyes have the best helmets in the sport, according to a new ranking.
A list of the 25 best college football helmets has been compiled by 247Sports. The Buckeyes cover tops the leaderboard.
The Ohio State football helmet comes in basic gray with a scarlet and white center stripe. At the end of the season, most helmets are decorated with stickers displaying the leaves of a horse chestnut tree. It’s a pretty look as bowl season rolls around.
Meanwhile, Penn State, Notre Dame, Miami and Alabama round out the top five in 247Sports’ rankings.
It’s a bit of a surprise that the Nittany Lions and Crimson Tide make the top five. With all due respect, both headsets are pretty bland.
A number of classic helmets made the top 10, including those from Michigan, Texas, LSU, Florida State, and USC.
Amazingly, Oregon’s helmet registers at No. 12, behind Arkansas at No. 11. The Ducks have hundreds of helmets, so it’s hard to pick just one. But it’s a bit surprising that Oregon isn’t higher on the list. Typically, the Ducks place in the top five on any uniform or helmet rankings.
